Gladstone Mo., Oct. 29, 2024 – The Midwest Auto Care Alliance (MWACA) has officially opened its Student Scholarship applications for students aspiring to build a career in the automotive service industry. Thanks to the generous donors of MWACA and the Technicians of Tomorrow Educational Foundation (TTEF), at least four students will each receive a $1,000 scholarship to help cover tuition and related expenses.
Students currently enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours in an automotive technology program at an accredited college or vocational school in the Midwest—or high school seniors enrolled in a vo-tech automotive program with plans to begin college in the summer or fall of 2025—are eligible to apply. Applicants must have maintained a minimum 2.0 GPA in high school or continue to hold a 2.0 GPA if currently enrolled in a college or vo-tech program.
Scholarship winners will also receive a weekend training pass to the VISION Hi-Tech Training & Expo, where they will attend technical training sessions and have an opportunity to network with professionals from across the country. During VISION’s Saturday evening awards dinner, the scholarship recipients and their instructors will be honored on stage for their achievements.
The goal of the MWACA Student Scholarship is to help address the ongoing shortage of skilled technicians by providing financial support to emerging talent in the automotive industry.
Jerry Holcom, founder of TTEF and former MWACA President, shared, “The shortage of qualified technicians is a significant issue in the automotive industry, and it’s something MWACA is passionate about solving. While there are many reasons behind this shortage, we’re committed to ensuring that financial barriers aren’t one of them. We’re excited to offer these scholarships to help future industry professionals with their tuition and expenses.”
Holcom and the MWACA board strongly encourage any eligible student pursuing a career in the automotive field to apply for the MWACA Student Scholarship.
Applications are open now and must be submitted by December 6, 2024. To apply or learn more, visit awards.mwaca.org
